The iconic monsters of Legendary’s Monsterverse – Godzilla and Kong are yet to be pitched against each other for a second time! Yes, you read that right. The first time that these two mighty characters were made to confront was in the 1962 Japanese film King Kong vs Godzilla. It had garnered an overwhelming box office victory. It was also released for the rest of the world in English and was highly appreciated. With this historical legacy to defend, will Godzilla vs. Kong do justice to these two parallel franchises?
This film was announced in October 2015 and went into production in November 2018. Even though the shoot of this film was wrapped up in April 2019, its release was indefinitely postponed. Godzilla vs. Kong was slated to release in November 2020. But due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the release had to be postponed indefinitely. Finally with life crawling back to normalcy the makers of this much-anticipated film rescheduled its worldwide release for the 26th of March 2021. There will be a later release of the film in the USA and it is scheduled to take place on the 31st of March.
The plot of this film is supposed to be a combined sequel of both Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Kong: Skull Island. This film will be the 12th one in the King Kong franchise and the 36th one in the Godzilla franchise. This action-packed film distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures appears to be a promising one from its trailer. The plot point in this film appears to be a great war of the monsters that had happened in the past of which Kong and Godzilla are the only survivors. There are also clips of a winged monster that Kong is fighting. But threading all these loose beads and formulating the story is not quite possible from the trailer. This is especially what makes this film a must-watch. The dynamic background scores are also hard to miss and adds volumes to the nail-biting and thrill-inciting trailer.
The end of the trailer shows Kong in what appears to be defeating Godzilla by deflecting his power into him, but did it truly end there, or is there more action to come?
